Meet Dr Anja Podobnik Urbancic

From a young age, I dreamed of becoming a surgeon—a quiet ambition that endured through life’s challenges.

I’ve always been captivated by the precision and harmony of the human body, and driven by a love of creative work, it became clear to me that plastic surgery was the perfect fit.

There is something deeply fulfilling about my work—reshaping and restoring what injury, illness or time has altered. For me, surgery is both a very precise science and a form of art. The joy I find in this work is only magnified by seeing the positive impact it has on my patients' confidence and quality of life.

I completed my specialist training in plastic and reconstructive surgery in Slovenia, training in two major centres renowned for their pioneering work in reconstructive care and burns. I hold full specialist recognition in the European Union and am a proud member of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS).

My passion for refining my skills led me to pursue further postgraduate training in Australia. I was privileged to work as a plastic surgery fellow across major units in New South Wales and South Australia, gaining extensive experience in reconstructive, aesthetic, and hand surgery, and learning from some of Australia’s most respected plastic surgeons.

This journey eventually led to full general medical registration in Australia, allowing me to continue caring for patients in a country I’ve come to love deeply. Drawn to the natural beauty and lifestyle of regional Western Australian, I chose to settle in the SW—where I also found the perfect clinical team, aligned in vision and values.

Today, I’m proud to offer my patients comprehensive, personalised care in skin cancer medicine and surgery, aesthetic medicine and regenerative treatments. I’m also a committed member of the Skin Cancer College Australasia, staying actively involved in continued professional development and best-practice care.
